Several years ago, I started writing and posting an article every two weeks. It was a challenge to myself to see if I could keep to a schedule for writing. I am amazed to look back and see almost four years of posts, almost all of them written every two weeks in spite of challenges in my life and at my day job.
However, there have been shifts in social media and I feel it is time to move to a different model of publishing. After some thought, I am planning to start posting on a site called Patreon. Patreon is a site where people can subscribe to a creators content and contribute money to them. A creator sets up the site and contribution levels to fit their audience and financial needs. As a result of this policy, Patreon does not have ads and is supported by a percentage of funds from each artist. There is also support for subscribers to comment and engage with the creators. In addition, a creator can post content for free. This means I can continue to post content as I have, for free, while adding in options for paid subscriptions.
I am keeping my expectations realistic about paid subscribers, although I hope I will get one or two subscriptions. I will post a link to the site once I have finished some of the basic setup. I will continue posting on Facebook but my focus will be on supporting Patreon. I am working on a buffer for the schedule since I want to be prepared to provide content for paying subscribers. I plan to setup a monthly newsletter and publish short stories for subscribers on Patreon.
Appreciate your support and patience as I start on this new direction. I will be continuing to post on this website since I control it. Patreon will provide additional options for those who are interested.
